Abstract
The incidence of the patellar fracture have been increasing due to traffic and industrial accident. Joint stiffness and traumatic arthritis are common complications because of intra-articular fracture. And so we should pay attention to its
treatment.
The options of treatment vary from closed treatment to total patellectomy.
We analysed 37 cases of patellar fractures from Jan. 1, 1988 to Dec. 31, 1991.
@ES The results were as follows:
@EN 1. Most fractures were occured in man among 2nd, 3rd and 4th decades.
2. The most common causes were traffic accident and slip down injury and frequent configuration of fracture was the commiuted.
3. 12 cases were treated consevertively and 25 cases by open reduction and internal fixation. Most of them which were treated by open reduction and internal fixation had excellent range of motion of knee joint and less complications. 4 cases
which
were
treated by Modified tension band wiring and circumferential wiring had short immobilization periods and bone umon.So we thick we have better rsult in comparison with other treatment.
